This is our “tech” week for the Gloriae Dei Cantores concerts coming up this weekend. That means extended rehearsals with and without orchestra, soloist coachings and rehearsals, and a final dress rehearsal with all forces, among other things. The choir will think beyond the memorization, the notes and details and now work to combine their vision of the works with the orchestra and making each piece a distinctive statement.
It is also exciting to work in the Church of the Transfiguration and rehearse the piece “into” the venue. Filled with mosaics, frescos, and other sacred art, the venue provides the perfect setting for this pinnacle performance of Gloriæ Dei Cantores’ 2016 season. This concert is sure to be a highlight in New England for classical music and fine arts lovers. Lots to look forward to and there will more later this week.
