One of the fun things Gloriae Dei Cantores does during some rehearsals is that we meet in small groups to hone our intonation, vowels, and style. It gives us a chance to sharpen our listening skills, as well as continue working on our vocalism. Currently, we are working on several works by Arvo Pärt and Ēriks Ešenvalds and they have their tricky places of intonation! Trying different combinations of voices, vowels, and different tempi all help to pinpoint problem areas. When we get back together as the whole group, it sounds fresh and new, with improved clarity. We are looking forward to sharing these pieces this summer in our July and August concerts. More to come!
